Comfort Burger

A burger to me is literally like a hug that I can taste. The warmth of the patty with the crunch of the lettuce, the acid in the tomato, the tangy spicy burger sauce, and the soft lightly toasted bun with cheese. It's like a symphony that comes together amazingly. Now bare with me. Do not be disheartened with how many ingredients there are. The hard work and patience is totally worth it. Just trust me and try it out.
Here's what you need:
- Burger buns
- Lettuce
- Tomato
- Cheese slices
Ingredients for Burger Sauce
- Hot sauce / Siracha
- Ketchup
- Mayonnaise
Ingredients 2
- Boiled kidney beans
- Boiled grated potato
- Chopped mushrooms
- Chopped mixed peppers
- Chopped carrots
- Chopped zucchini
- Chopped onions (optional)
- Cayenne pepper
- Garlic powder (optional)
- Salt
- Oregano
- Parsley
- Dill
- Black pepper
- Breadcrumbs
Instructions
- In a deep pan add 2 tsp’s of oil.
- Once warmed, you can add your onions. If you don’t use onions you can skip straight to adding your carrots.
- Sauté for 30 seconds then add zucchini.
- 30 seconds later add mushrooms.
- Once all the water from veggies has evaporated, add mixed peppers.
- Add all the spices: cayenne, garlic, salt, oregano, parsley, dill & black pepper.
- Make sure you add generously as you have potatoes and kidney beans to mix with later on.
- Once all the spices have been incorporated well, set it aside to cool.
- Add the potato and mashed kidney beans.
- Mix all the ingredients to combine well.
- Do a taste test and adjust the spices mentioned previously if needed.
- Start to form burger patties: pick a big chunk of the mixture, roll it into a ball, place it on the palm of your hand and press it to the thickness you like in your patty.
- Once you have made your patties, leave in the fridge for 30 minutes or freezer for 15 minutes.
- Coat the patty with breadcrumbs and shallow fry.
- Mix all the burger sauce ingredients and this is where you can adjust your spice levels so the burger has a balanced taste.
